Call for Submissions!

The YU-CARE Trainee Association Presents the 2nd Biennial Symposium in:
Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Aging: Advancing Research and Careers

May 18th, 2018

York University

Understanding issues in aging and geriatrics is of precedence in our current society with a rapidly aging population. Multiple factors have an impact on the health and quality of life for older adults. In this symposium, students will learn and discuss issues related to health and well-being in older adulthood. Attendees of the symposium will learn about the bio-psycho-social elements of aging and late life development. The symposium will also provide opportunities for trainees in the field of aging research to learn about possible career paths and to network with academic, clinical, governmental, and industry professionals.

Undergraduate, graduate, and college students are welcome to apply.

Empirical research, case studies, and literature reviews are invited in one or more of the following themes:

  •  Strategies for healthy agin
  • Social determinants of aging
  • Innovations in aging
  • The neuroscience of aging
  • Aging with chronic conditions
  • Policy and aging
  • Attitudes toward aging
  • Aging from a caregiver’s perspective

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

1. Abstracts should not exceed *300 words* (single spaced, 12 pt. font)
2. Include the name of the presenting author(s), degree(s),
position(s), institutional affiliation(s)
3. If applicable, include the content, problem, theoretical framework, purpose of study, methods, results, and implications
4. Indicate presentation type (i.e., empirical research, case study, literature review)
5. Indicate preferred presentation format (i.e., poster or talk)
6. Specify all themes that apply to you
7. Send abstract as an e-mail attachment (Word document or PDF)
8. Please note that submission of this abstract, if accepted, indicates agreement to present your work
