We have developed a new smartphone-based Digital Memory Augmentation (DMA) device – the “Hippocamera” – that mitigates memory deficits in individuals at-risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease. DMA improves memory using portable devices that capture information about everyday episodes for later review. The current position is for a Research Assistant to test the efficacy of our memory rehabilitation device.
The primary responsibilities of the Research Assistant will be to train participants, administer experimental tasks (both behavioral and in the fMRI scanner), and analyze data related to the research project. These
duties will be fulfilled under close supervision of Dr. Barense and the team of researchers working with the DMA. The Research Assistant will be responsible for recruiting participants, scheduling appointments,
participant compensation, preparing test materials, and collecting, scoring, and analyzing data.
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
General knowledge of research methodology and one year of experience in a research lab required. Prior experience should include interaction with human research participants in the context of a formal experimental setting. Experience with older adults and the cognitive neuroscience of human memory strongly preferred. Programming experience is an asset.
Interested applicants should contact Rachel Newsome, Research Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) with cover letter, CV, copy of (unofficial) transcripts, and the names and contact information of two potential
references. Please note “Research Assistant Job Posting” in the subject line of your email. Review of applications will begin March 29 and continue until the position is filled.
We are strongly committed to diversity within our lab community. We especially welcome applications from under-represented groups, as well as individuals who have had career or educational interruptions.
Please note that unfortunately only Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply.
