The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario (SSO) is holding its seasonal psychoeducation group at UofT Scarborough starting Wednesday, May 18th from 5:00-7:00pm. The 4-week long group meets once per week and is organized as an educational workshop open for any student interested in learning more about mental illnesses and how to communicate better with someone who has a diagnosis. This current session is FREE for all post-secondary students in Toronto (normally a $50 registration fee). All attendees will also receive a certificate of completion from the Schizophrenia Society of Ontario. For more information, visit:

The 4-week program includes the following topics of discussion and information
sharing:
Week 1: Psychosis, Schizophrenia and Mental Illness (causes, symptoms, etc.)
Week 2: Treatment and Recovery (how medications work, strategies for recovery, etc.)
Week 3: Coping as a family (self care, communication skills, etc.)
Week 4: Mental Health System and Advocacy (how does the system work, power of attorney, voluntary and involuntary admission, etc.)
