To be eligible for any Subcommittee Member position, you must be:

  • Currently taking 0.5 credit PSY course, or
  • Enrolled in one of the PSY subject POSt(s)
  • Be a student at the University of Toronto St. George campus

Academic Subcommittee

The Academic Committee organizes and facilitates events and programs with the goal of
empowering all undergraduate psychology students by preparing them to take on the various academic opportunities available at the university.

As a subcommittee member, you will be directly involved in:

  • The planning and facilitating of PSA events, including the Dr. Freud Competition for
    PSY100 students.
  • The management of a long-term program through the involvement in the PSA
    mentorship program. The program is designed to help students with their transition into university, especially during this difficult and uncertain time, by pairing them up with upper-year mentors.
  • Cross-committee collaboration and supporting other PSA events.

We are looking for individuals who are responsible, organized, flexible, and are interested in practicing their skills and gaining leadership experience. If you are interested in getting involved, you are encouraged to apply regardless of your level of experience!

Seminar Subcommittee

We’re hiring! The Seminar Coordinators at the PSA are looking for 2 to 3 brilliant sub-committee members to join us!

We aim to hold interesting seminars with professors, faculty members, researchers and graduate students. These include our ‘Journeys in Psychology’ series, collaborative events and upcoming series (stay tuned!). We hope to inspire the undergraduate Psychology community to actively attend PSA events, gain insight, make connections and discover opportunities within the field!

As a sub-committee member, you’ll be exposed to a wide range of fun, engaging and resume-building opportunities. You’ll have the chance to exercise your networking and leadership skills, while further immersing yourself in the discipline of Psychology!

Expectations from this role:

  • Come up with / provide creative seminar ideas,
  • Form a query-bank of interesting thoughts and questions for you (and others!) to ask guest speakers,
  • Be involved in preparation and execution for all hosted seminars,
  • Maintain enthusiasm and answer any logistical questions posed by the attendees,
  • Attend and support other PSA events as a sub-committee member!

Social Subcommittee

Hello! The Social Coordinators are hiring subcommittee members to join the PSA Social team this year!

As Social Coordinators, we strive to create networking/social opportunities within the Psychology undergraduate community and build worthwhile interpersonal relationships among students outside of academic settings. This year, we are planning on hosting fun, in-person events, including Tea with Profs!

We are looking for subcommittee members who are organized, collaborative, and enthusiastic about event planning. Being a subcommittee member is a great way to network, become more involved in your program, and gain valuable leadership skills!

Expectations from this role:

  • Contribute to the event-planning process
  • Demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and be willing to take the initiative in tasks
  • Be present and help with necessary tasks at our events

Conference Subcommittee

The Conference Committee organizes at least one large-scale (80+ person) conference during the second semester and is seeking 1-3 eager team members to join us.

If you’re interested in event planning, organizing an in-person conference, brainstorming cool speaker ideas, reaching out to professors, securing sponsorships/funding, and having a good time as a team, WE WANT YOU!

Volunteer Subcommittee

Volunteer Subcommittee Members assist the Volunteer Coordinator in managing
volunteer duties and PSA events.They are primarily responsible for managing volunteer
committee emails, co-hosting Volunteer Orientation and Appreciation Day, and
attending regular office hour sessions. In addition, the subcommittee members are
expected to be involved in the creation of the PSA podcast, where they will have the
opportunity to participate in audio script writing or tape editing.

To be eligible for the Volunteer Subcommittee Member position, you must be:

  • Currently taking 0.5 credit PSY course, or Enrolled in one of the PSY subject
    POSt(s)

Please note that Volunteer Subcommittee Members selected are expected to be
responsible, reliable, organized, and flexible if needed by the coordinator. Constant
communication is also expected to ensure mutual understanding. Students of all years
who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply.

The advantages of becoming a Volunteer Subcommittee Member include expanding
into a new undergraduate psychology community and meeting new students, actively
participating in events, and contributing to tasks such as a potential podcast and
interesting psychology findings.
