Lab: Research Centre at The Royal Conservatory of Music (273 Bloor St. W)
Description: The Royal Conservatory of Music Research Centre is looking for a highly organized person with experience working with children (ages 2-5) to work on a project on the music and cognitive outcomes of early childhood music education. The study will be evaluating the cognitive, language and musical abilities of children. We will also be testing singing and rhythmic abilities, so some musical aptitude will be of use in singing and clapping to children during the course of testing. The research assistant will be responsible for administrating testing sessions and questionnaires as well as entry and scoring of data.
Requirements: Undergraduate psychology students (2nd year or higher). Experience working with young children is strongly preferred. Prior knowledge in psychological tests and assessments is a plus. This is a part-time volunteer position requiring 10 to 15 hours per week (hours are flexible; most work will be during the evenings and weekends). Upon successful completion of training, this may transition into a part-time paid position. The position will start in September until November. Some training may be required during the last week of August.
To apply please send a CV, cover letter and unofficial transcript to Dr. Sean Hutchins (Director of Research) at research@rcmusic.ca
