Research Assistant Opportunity

Tom Gilovich’s Judgment and Belief Lab (JABLAB) at Cornell University is currently accepting applications for volunteer research assistants this summer. The ideal candidate is a motivated undergraduate or recent graduate with a keen interest in social psychology, who is considering graduate
school in psychology. Research experience is an asset but not a necessity.

Research in JABLAB asks questions about everyday social life: What makes conversations go well or poorly? Can we tell how much attention people pay to us or how often we’re on other people’s minds? How does our behavior influence the people around us? Social life is complex. We’re interested in how people navigate their social interactions and some of the systematic mistakes they make along the way.

Interns are expected to work approx. 35 hours/week; this includes study preparation, data collection (in the lab and in the field), data analysis, and team meetings. Because projects are at various stages of completion (from pre-design to post-data collection), interns will be involved in a wide range of activities over the course of the internship. Activities may
include developing new project ideas, designing new experiments, recruiting participants, running experiments, analyzing data, and presenting results.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until positions are filled. To apply, please send the following documents to
gilovich.lab.summer@gmail.com: CV/resume, unofficial grade report, brief cover letter describing your relevant research experience and why you’re interested in working in JABLAB, and your availability between June and August.
