Multi-Organ Transplant Student Research Training Program (MOTSRTP)/Advanced Student Placement in Research Education (ASPIRE) will be hosting an open house session for interested students wishing to partake in our program during the 2018 summer and 2018-19 fall/winter sessions.
This pioneering and comprehensive training program for senior high school, undergraduate/graduate students consisting of formal seminars, discussion forums and direct health/research experience, would provide an overview for students in enabling them to gain a general understanding in the area of clinical research and apply the knowledge gained in research-related tasks to the field of transplantation and overall patient care. Over the course of the academic year, students would be introduced to the various sub-disciplines that have a direct impact on the overall transplant care; a few of which include:
- Basic sciences
- Bioethics
- Clinical and outcomes research
- Health economics
- Clinical epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Clinical and Hospital OR observation sessions
Graduates of the program will be poised to in advancing research development and clinical/social application of emerging discoveries in the field of organ transplantation.
Eligible Disciplines:
Including but not limited to: STEM-related subjects, Biochemistry, Immunology, Health studies, Biology, Computer Science, Economics, Health Sciences, Health services management, Epidemiology, Health Policy, Bioethics, Health economics, Medical Sciences, Microbiology, Nursing, Physio/Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physiology, Psychology, Statistics/Biostatistics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biomedical communications.
Education Level:
University students: from students going into their 2nd year in the summer (for undergraduate students) to those pursuing Graduate/Professional studies are encouraged to attend.
High School students: for students currently in grade 11 or 12
