Innovation Hub: Call for Student Volunteers

Volunteer with the Innovation Hub – Join a Cross-Disciplinary Community & Learn New Skills!

The Innovation Hub is pleased to announce that we are now accepting expressions of interest for the many volunteer positions over the 2018/2019 Fall and Winter semesters. Aside from practical learning and real world experience, both of which can enhance students’ career development, we are also pleased to announce that many of these positions are Co-Curricular Record approved. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in an engaging, inclusive and diverse community and to learn and practice new skills. Volunteers may express their interest in joining one of the following teams:

Design Team (CLN Volunteer Posting #129149)

Working closely with the Design Research Team Lead, the design team assists the Innovation Hub by conducting and transcribing interviews according to our empathy-based methodologies. Other responsibilities include recruiting and communicating with research participants, planning and facilitating feedback sessions and other research events, and helping with data analysis and generating insights. While design team volunteers will be assigned to specific research projects for the duration of the term, they may also be asked to contribute to smaller side projects as necessary.

Volunteer Engagement Team (CLN Volunteer Posting #129151)

Working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator, the volunteer engagement team assists the Innovation Hub by maintaining communication and engagement between all of our volunteers and staff. Other responsibilities include maintaining organized records of volunteer information, keeping volunteers updated on meeting times, project updates, and other housekeeping matters, and coordinating with the events team to plan and host volunteer events, including training sessions and monthly get-togethers.

Events Team (CLN Volunteer Posting #129152)

Working with the Design Research Project Leads, the Volunteer Coordinator, and the Trainers, the events team assists the Innovation Hub by planning and facilitating both internal and external events. Responsibilities will include researching event options/logistics, setting up and cleaning up events, and supporting the collection of data at research events.

Connections Team (CLN Volunteer Posting #129153)

Working closely with the Connector, the connections volunteers assist the Innovation Hub by forging connections between us and the broader university community. Responsibilities include researching and identifying outreach opportunities for the Innovation Hub, and promoting the Innovation Hub by meeting with student groups throughout the university.
Once our space in the Student Commons in complete (ETA: Winter 2019), the connections team will also be responsible for animating the space by greeting guests and answering questions they may have about the Innovation Hub.

Communications Team (CLN Volunteer Posting #129154)

Working closely with the Storyteller, the communications support team will assist the Innovation Hub by collecting and producing media that shares the story of our work with the broader university community.
Responsibilities include event photography and videography, producing and editing blog posts and other media such as vlogs, promoting events through social media, and developing monthly newsletters for our mailing list.
