Dear potential participant:
My name is Matthew Moreno. I am a doctoral candidate at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto, working under the supervision of Dr. Earl Woodruff. I am conducting research as part of my dissertation to explore the role that music has on how we learn and the emotions that surround that process.
This study uses cutting-edge facial expression recognition and psychophysiology measurement technologies to assess real-time emotional states. I hope that this study can provide empirical evidence
to help us understand the underlying constructs of academic emotions, and how music influences learning and performance.
If you are interested in participating in this innovative research, please join me! Your participation would take approximately 30 minutes. During this time, you will be asked to complete 3 short questionnaires and a reading task while listening to music.
To participate in this study you must:
1. Be 18 years or older
2. Be enrolled as a 1st year undergraduate student
3. Speak and read English
4. Be willing to attend an in-person trial (9th floor, 252 Bloor St. W.)
at a time that is convenient for you
For your participation, you will be given a $10 Tim Hortons gift card.
